Creation of The Postcard and Socials

Image
Welcome back to my blog! Today my group and I created the postcard and social media account. For the social media account, we used Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube. Sofia offered to create the account since she remembered, her password into her main account and because she had an extra emails she could use. It only took about 15 minutes for her to create the all the accounts. The first thing we did was add our username and bio. We created a username based on our movie title, Shattered Bonds. For our bio we wrote:  AICE Media Studies A level, 2024 Here we will post updates on our movie!  Producers are Natalia Sorbo, Carleigh Tripp, Sofia Di Campli, and Jenna Olson  Once that was complete we added a profile photo and it was the PDF version of our postcard.  we did this for every social media account except YouTube. Since youtube is more about posting videos, we just added a profile photo and a username. To make it easy on ourselves and the graders we used the same profile picture and use

Time to Edit

Image
Welcome back! Last weekend we finished the filming of our movie, now it's time to edit. To edit our film we used iMovie and CapCut. Unfortunately Jenna got the Flu and has been out of school for the past couple days, so we haven't been able to work on it in class. Thanks to technology, we were able to collaborate on the editing through FaceTime. My group knew that I was such a bad editor, so Jenna and Sofia rook the lead on this one. However, I didn't want them to feel overwhelmed with the editing process, since it's super important, so I decided to offer my help. I offered my help by relying ideas, which they could use in the editing of our movie. The most important part of the editing process is making sure all the clips are in the correct order and that each clip used wad the clip each group member liked. If any of these steps are messed up our video would be completely ruined. So it's critical for each group member to really help with these two steps. If you we

What Did I Do??

Image
Welcome Back! Today I was super excited to attend class because I had just finished my website. The website took me a whole week to create so naturally I was super excited to show it off. I showed all my friends who sit around me at my table with the biggest smile on my face. I made some final touches like centering photos and swapping the background color. Now that my website looked absolutely perfect, it was ready to be launched. Once I clicked publish my world came crashing down. I had to pay 17 dollars a month to keep my website up and running. How could this have happened. Before using SquareSpace, I researched to make sure it was 100% free, how could I have been so naive. Before deleting all my work, I tried to find a solution. I could publish the website however it would be private and only people with the password could access it. I asked my teacher if this would be okay and she said no because it would be impossible to send the code over to Cambridge. I was so disappointed be

Filming Day Two

Image
Welcome back blog! Yesterday on Saturday the 24th we filmed the rest of our scenes. We all met at Jennas house again because majority of the scenes needed to be filmed there. Before filming today we all made sure our schedules were completely clear. This was important because a large portion of our film occurs during the night time and last week when we tried to film at night Jenna had a dinner. For example, most of the flashback scenes that are being used are during the night, this gives off a eerie or suspenseful feeling. Once we all arrived at Jenna's, we headed over to a nearby elementary school to film our school scenes. We didn't have access to inside the school which was okay, because we only needed certain locations. At the school we only used the picnic tables outside the front gate, the parking lot and the front entrance of the school. After filming the school scenes we decided to switch up our scenes. We originally said that we were going to film at the beach; howev

Creation of Our Website

Image
Welcome back! Today in class we began to make our website. My group and I started with the the website because we figured it was going to take the longest to create. I originally used Wix to create my website, but it was so confusing. I liked the concept of having the site plan the layout for you, however; the layout they gave me didn't meet my standards. When I tired to change out the photos, it wouldn't let me, unless I paid $15.99. I got super frustrated with the recommended site, so I found another one. I've been using SquareSpace. This site is super convenient and easy to use. I started by choosing the category, I chose marketing because the whole purpose of the website is to help promote our movie. Before I began working on my website, I wrote down the main things I wanted to cover. I wanted to include the title, a slogan, the goals of our movie, a meet the producers page, background information on the process of filming, and most importantly a link to our social med

The Filming Begins

Image
Hey Blog, its the Tuesday after President's Day and there's a lot to discuss. As I mention in a pervious blog, before we started filming we needed to get props, well my group and I completely forgot about the props and just started filming. Since it was a Monday and my group and I had school the next day everyone was in a funky mood. Everyone was so lazy and didn't want to drive all around town, so we just filmed the scenes that were in a close proximity close to us. A majority of the scenes were filmed at Jenna's house. There are more scenes to be filmed at Jenna's house, but those scenes take place during the night. We could have filmed those scenes on Monday, however Jenna had a dinner at 5:30. The scenes we completed were 7-12, 13-18, and 43-48. As you can see we got throughout the day, there was a decent amount of scenes completed. BEGINNING OF FILMING We started the day by meeting at Jenna's house. I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to make it

Figuring Out Our Setbacks

Image
Hello Cambridge, welcome back to my blog. Today in class we were going to begin to create our props but we had a lecture on Media Ecology. Media Ecology is the study of hoe media and communication processes affect the human perception and understanding. We learned about different theorist too, such as Marshall McLuhan and Neil Postman. Although it's imperative that we learn this, it was detrimental to our filming timeline. This was going to set us back a day because now we have to dedicate a say to making props. I know your thinking why not have someone do it have home. Yes, I was thinking that as well, but our groups main priority is to contribute equally. This means that we don't want someone applying more effort than anyone else. This isn't too much of an issue because we can swap days around. We originally we're going to film on Monday since its President's Day, and we have school off, but since we were pushed back a day; we are going to do props Monday. Natal

Why Is Everyone Busy??

Image
Today in class we dedicated our class time to choosing a day to film. Being in high school my group mates and I have many obligations. We used an online calendar to help us plan out the days we were all free. I am not exaggerating when I say this took us the entire class. Natalia just started a new job, so her work schedule is pretty packed. She considered taking days off; however, since she just started working there she wanted to make a good impression. This is highly understandable so she's looking for a day where she's not working. Due to recent events Jenna's mom has given her a curfew. She now has to be home at 5:30pm, not to mention she works weekends past her curfew most times. Luckily her boss is a little more lenient and always her to take days off. Sofia and I are mostly free, except for when we're piled down with school work. Thats easy to work around since we can get the work done ahead of time. After analyzing the calendar we noticed that we had no school
