CR: Critical Reflection

Shattered Bonds shows how it's very difficult to make a trio friendship work, as there will always be a duo in a trio. Many people struggle with this reality on a daily basis and it is not a fun reality. Shattered Bonds engages with the idea that friend groups, mainly consisting of girls, aren’t as friendly as people believe they are. In many cases there's a constant fear of one being fake or secretly hating each other behind their backs. In Shattered Bonds we highlighted exclusion. Exclusion is one of the biggest signs when it comes to a struggling friendship and in many cases Kendall, who is played by Natalia, is being left out. You can see a

Media Studies is one of my favorite classes as I enjoy the concept behind it. I thought it was super neat to fully understand how movies are made and how much attention to detail there needs to be. Before this class I never paid attention to the different angles and shots used. Now that I've taken Media Studies I realized that emotions aren't just portrayed through acting but also through the camera shots, angles and sounds. I've been taking media for two year now, I was in AS level my sophomore year and A

Peer Reviews

Welcome back to my blog! Now that Shattered Bonds is completely filmed and edited, my group and I wanted opinions from people in our class. The first person we asked was Jack Lynch. Jack is very blunt and straight to the point, so I knew that his critiques we're going to be good but harsh. However his reaction to Shattered Bonds was the complete opposite. He told us that our movie was well put together. My group and I's main concern was whether the plot twist was clear or not, and he told us it was so that was a huge relief. During his peer review though he could not stop laughing, this was concerning because Shattered Bonds is a Murder Mystery not a comedy. I asked him why he was laughing so much and he said it was because of the acting. I will say there are some scenes where the acting isn't the best. I'm mainly talking about the scene where I screamed when I found out Olivia went missing. That scene was super funny to film and it took many tries. He ended up rating o

Editing Issue

Welcome back to my blog! In a previous blog I talked about the editing process of our video. However, while watching the final project back I noticed slight mistakes. The first mistake I noticed is that while filming a phone call scene, Natalia used Jenna's real name instead of her character name. I'm thankful I found this because no one in my group did, as the scene was super quick. The first way my group and I attempted to solve this issue was by adding a voice over. Unfortunately, the voice over was very mumbled and you could tell we tried to hide an error. The not effect the voice over brought to the movie was making it feel rushed and messy. My group and I decided that we would just re-film that scene another day. This was a good plan until we checked our schedules. All of us were completely booked for the rest of the week and our movie is due the 14th. Everyone went into a panic as we had absolutely no time to re-film. Once everyone composed themselves, it was decided th
