Time to Edit

Welcome back! Last weekend we finished the filming of our movie, now it's time to edit. To edit our film we used iMovie and CapCut. Unfortunately Jenna got the Flu and has been out of school for the past couple days, so we haven't been able to work on it in class. Thanks to technology, we were able to collaborate on the editing through FaceTime. My group knew that I was such a bad editor, so Jenna and Sofia rook the lead on this one. However, I didn't want them to feel overwhelmed with the editing process, since it's super important, so I decided to offer my help. I offered my help by relying ideas, which they could use in the editing of our movie. The most important part of the editing process is making sure all the clips are in the correct order and that each clip used wad the clip each group member liked. If any of these steps are messed up our video would be completely ruined. So it's critical for each group member to really help with these two steps. If you were wondering how this could be done over FaceTime it's super simple. A few years ago, screen share was made available to iPhone users. For example each time we edited on FaceTime Jenna shared her screen, allowing us view what she sees on her phone. This turned out to be a super easy process because we could tell our ideas, watch how they looked with the scenes, and each group member could give their opinion on whether they like it or not. Now that we figured out how to edit over FaceTime, the next step we took was adding the music and sound effects. We mainly had music over the flashbacks and sound effects when leading up to a plot twist or suspenseful scene. The music needed to be dark and instrumental. My group and I noticed that the creepy instrumental music was much better than the electronic produced music. We added the music at the beginning, end and spring the flashbacks. The flashbacks included sounds like a knife swinging and a girl screaming in the distance. Once the music was added we began adding the special effects. These effects really set our movie in place, making it more interesting and mysterious. For example we made some scenes black and white to represent the flashbacks and we added dark figures on the walls or behind a specific actor during a specific scene. Thankfully the editing process went super smoothly. Thanks for reading!
