Our Pitch

Hey guys, welcome to my blog! Today we will be pitching our ideas for our short movie clip.

1. A young girl goes on a run at the park, unaware of the man that was trailing her. She would find herself running for her life soon after.

2. A troubled girl wants to finally start a normal highschool life. However, the crimes of her past become known, and highschool became her worst nightmare.

I would be interested in making a short movie about pitch 1, a young girl going for a run, because it is achievable with the surroundings and resources we have. Florida has many parks and woods we can utilize to portray a dark and suspenseful setting. Both Carleigh and I also like running miles, so having a runner as the main character would fit our personalities perfectly. Since there is only two people in our group, making pitch 1 would be convenient as one can play the young runner while the other could film from behind. This way we could film two people at once, in case we don't have someone to help us out.We also really enjoy thrillers, so pitch 1 would allow us to be creative and exciting with our ideas.

I wouldn't be interested in making a short movie about pitch 2, a troubled girl wanting to start a normal highschool life because it would require access to resources we don't have. For instance, the pitch is about a higschool student and her social life, which would mean we would need access to filming at a highschool. Since we are not allowed to film at our own school, we would also have to search for another one. This creates  problems because highschools are packed on weekdays and closed on weekends, leaving us with no time to film. A highschool setting would also require many actors to be present, which would be hard for us as a group of two. We could fix this by using our friends and family members as actors, but this reintroduces the idea of access to a highschool once again.

I chose to make pitch 1, "A young girl goes on a run at the park, unaware of the man that was trailing her. She would find herself running for her life soon after." because it the most obtainable option when it comes to acting and resources. There are many parks and tracks nearby for us to set a suspenseful run in, and  includes actors we can see ourselves playing. It also creates a more intriguing plot than pitch 2, as mystery and creativity become more apparent.
